This customer approached the Ideal Electrical Solutions team with the goal to reduce their electricity bills as much as possible. With the right system combining solar generation and intelligent battery load shifting, the potential to eliminate grid electricity costs was entirely possible.
Capture solar energy during the day and charge the battery at cheap off-peak rates overnight enables the system to cover the vast majority of the home’s energy needs without drawing expensive peak-rate electricity from the grid.
The Recommended Solution
To deliver the best reduction in electricity costs, Ideal Electrical designed a solution using the Alpha ESS G3 range – the AlphaESS SMILE-G3-S8 8kW hybrid inverter, paired with three AlphaESS 9.6kWh batteries providing 28.8kWh of total storage capacity.
This combination gives provides the power output and the storage capacity needed to support meaningful load shifting, charging from cheap off-peak tariff rates overnight and from solar generation during the day, then discharging to cover the home’s energy needs during peak hours.
The 5kW solar PV array works alongside the battery to maximise self-consumption, ensuring that as much of the home’s electricity demand as possible is met by either solar generation or stored energy rather than grid imports.
